New Poll: Best Batman Movie

It appears that The Dark Knight has taken over the world, having pulled in $158 million for the opening weekend. Dang. In honor of this I made a new poll asking what you think is the best live action Batman movie.

As far as The Dark Knight goes, what is there to say that hasn't been said? I thought it was amazing. For me, it somehow even managed to exceed the insane amount of hype it's been (justly) receiving the past several months. The performances were great. The Joker was absolutely insane. Unlike a lot of people, it seems, I didn't have a problem with Bale's "Batman voice." If you saw the film on a regular screen, do yourself a favor and check it out on IMAX. It's incredible.

For those who are curious, I was pleased to see that the majority of voters enjoyed Indy 4. I'm still surprised at the dogpile that the film has received, especially on the internet. I honestly don't know what people were expecting. Perhaps some things are best left in the past, but I'm still happy we got to see Doctor Jones put on the fedora one more time.

I'm leaving for Comic Con in a day and half. Oh man, I'm pumped.

edit: Per Kyle's suggestion I've added Mask of the Phantasm.

It should be pretty obvious that the Chris Nolan movies are the best live-action Bat-flicks.

Why not make it interesting and include Mask of the Phantasm (which, prior to Batman Begins, I maintained was THE best Batman movie, hands down)?

I agree that Phantasm is great but I honestly don't know that many folks who've seen it. Heck, I'd argue that the best version of Batman, hands down, is the animated series. I still don't know where my vote goes. There's just something about the '89 Batman that does it for me, maybe because I've seen it at least 100 times and know all the lines by heart. I know a lot of folks feel the same way. As far as pure cinematic quality goes, I agree that the Nolan films are probably the best though.

I'll change it up though, you do have a point.

I think the Tim Burton Batman movie came out at a magical time for boys our age.

I'll always remember when I was nine years old and my older cousins took me to see it in the theater. That remains my most memorable moviegoing experience.

Then, a year or so later, my friends and I would run it in the VCR non-stop. When it got to the end we would rewind it and watch from the beginning. If we wanted to play outside we would stop the movie and resume it whenever we came back in.

I was so obsessed I actually recorded the entire movie on a tape recorder by putting it next to the TV speaker and I would listen to it on my Walkman when I was on trips and what not. Yeah.

I think the real magic of the '89 Batman was that it was before the internet, heck before Entertainment Weekly. I've said it before but that was an amazing summer. Last Crusade, Batman, Honey I Shrunk the Kids. Anyone who scoffs at the last pick was either too old or too young to remember. Also, for me, watching Field of Dreams and Parenthood with my dad remain my fondest childhood memories.
